My Pillow Top Review I have been using the My Pillow Top mattress from Sleep Number for several years. A top mattress is a good mattress to have, especially for occasional bedding buyers. The reason why it is a good buy is because it is comfortable, yet firm enough for most people’s needs. This article will focus primarily on the My Pillow Top Air mattress, which is a newer style of mattress that is becoming popular.
Medium Firm (7) – See Best Buy. Molecule is a well known online mattress company, and they offer two mattress choices: the original Molecule 1 Mattress, and the new Molecule 2 mattress. This review will concentrate on the original Molecule 1 mattress, which is one of the more popular models of sleepers made by this brand. While both models are firm and comfortable, there are some differences that might help you make your decision.
The most noticeable mattress difference between the original Molecule mattress and the new version is the transition layer between the two. The original mattress has a dual layer of foam. The transition layer in the new mattress is made up of quilting in a solid form, rather than being comprised of foam. This makes the mattress more durable and resistant to “sleeping hot” conditions. The transition layer in the original mattress is also larger than that found in the mid-priced models of sleepers by this manufacturer.
Another big difference is the amount of firmness, the mattresses offer. My Pillow Top sleepers are about twice as firm as my Momiem mattress. This makes them more supportive and helps give me extra comfort all night long. In addition, they provide excellent pressure relief, especially around the hipbones.
The best part about these newer M molecules are the added features they offer. Many people complained that the original Sleepers models were not very comfortable or even did not work well for their particular body. However, with the additions of a wider base and a higher density of foam in the mid-layer, many people are finding that the new models are a welcome change. The added edge support and expanded neck and shoulder support can eliminate many of the aches and pains people experience with traditional sleepers.
The real performance improvements can be seen with extended wear. The mattress becomes firmer and larger over time. There is no change in the fact that the Sleepers by this manufacturer is the most comfortable of any of their competitors, but I have noticed a real reduction in pressure points around the body while I am on my bed. Of course, I cannot attest to the actual performance of the mattress in my own home, but it seems to me that the higher density of the polyfoam used to make the mattress does something to reduce some of the effects of pressure points and elongated necks and shoulders.
The other major difference between the original Sleepers and these newer M molecules are the support layers. The original Sleepers series used a traditional inner spring based layer of memory foam to provide support. The new ones use a layer of poly foam that has a closed cell structure that provides an increased amount of support while expanding to fill the space in between each cell. This expanded structure provides an enhanced shock absorbing capacity, which is a great benefit over the typical all-foam mattresses. As you know, the denser the material, the more it will compress. That means that the polyfoam is less likely to rip apart under normal use.
A few other differences from the original Sleepers include a better fit and finish, higher density foams in the base, and a dual-sided mattress with center drain. While I do not have the mattress to try out, it looks like the all-foam mattresses will be slightly thicker, which could lead to a slightly larger than usual head-space between each mattress pad. At any rate, both products seem to perform well and impress with the various Sleepers reviews online. You can compare Sleepers by checking out my article comparing all foam mattresses.
